I-43 Bridges – Howard Avenue to Menomonee Valley
3D Modeling, Construction Management, LiDAR, Survey, Transportation | Wisconsin | Back
Challenge
This 3.86-mile portion of the Interstate Highway System was plagued by congestion, accidents, and general aging of the infrastructure. This section of I-43 serves the eastern side of the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County, including lakefront recreation areas and attractions and the Port of Milwaukee, and it connects Milwaukee with the City of Green Bay to the north and I-94 to the south.
Solution
The project was divided into two major segments. The I-43 mainline portion of the project included rehabilitating and re-decking nine mainline structures and increasing their vertical clearances to meet current standards. The second segment of the project included rehabilitating and re-decking 11 local street overpasses.
